20:14 (Part 2)

Ed note: When 2013 was coming to a close, the Spirit of the Lord ministered to me to do a quick scan through the books of the Bible with a 20th chapter that has a 14th verse as an overview of the messages He has for my social media friends. I believe that God has got a word for each of you that gets to read this! I need to add that I used varied translations as the Spirit led me to… And more often than none, the scriptures are not quoted in its entirety. In some instances, I added a brief exposition to the 20:14 scripture. (Interestingly, there are 20 such verses in the scriptures).  This is the SECOND PART in the series. Shall we?

Judges 20:14 NCV “The BENJAMINITES left their own cities and met at GIBEAH to FIGHT. . .”

MESSAGE: It is a year of battle! Power tussles abound in the year. But here is the goodnews:

  1. YOU ARE A “BENJAMINITE”! How significant is that? Benjamin means “Son of my right hand”. You are a son of the right hand of the Lord! For you to catch an idea of what God’s right hand can do, check these out:
    1. Exodus 15:6 says “Thy right hand, O LORD, is become glorious in power: thy right hand, O LORD, hath dashed in pieces the enemy.” (Perpetual Conquest!)
    2. Psalm 20:6 says “Now know I . . . the saving strength of (God’s) right hand” (Perpetual Safety!)
    3. Psalm 98:1 says “. . .the LORD . . . hath done marvellous things: his right hand, and his holy arm, hath gotten him the victory” (Perpetual Victory!)
    4. Psalm 110:1 says “The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool.” (Perpetual Rest!)
    5. Psalm 118:15 says “. . . the right hand of the LORD doeth valiantly”. (Perpetual Valiance!)
  2. ACCEPT THE CHANGE OF NAME! You might have been wrongly tagged like Benjamin was initially named “Benoni” (Son of sorrow) but God—your Father, Himself, retags you. In 2014, you are a testimony of the limitless abilities of His right hand!
  3. GO TO THE HILL! As a Benjaminite in a year of battle, it’s high time you left “your city” and head for “Gibeah”! Gibeah, in Hebrew, means “The Hill!” What verse does that quicken? “I will lift up my eyes unto THE HILLS from whence cometh MY HELP” (Psalm 121:1). It’s a year of
DIVINE HELP! Yes, it’s a year of battle—but the battle is not yours; the battle is the Lord’s! (see 1 Samuel 17:47 and Exodus 14:14)

It’s a wonderful day indeed when we stop working FOR God and begin working WITH God!

1 Samuel 20:14 ESV “. . .show me THE STEADFAST LOVE OF THE LORD, that I may not die”

MESSAGE: It’s a year to experience the steadfast love of the Lord! What is that? One word: GRACE!

  • This is the kind of love that you can’t win by being winsome and you can’t lose by being a loser. . .
  • This is the kind of love that nothing shall separate us from. . .
  • This is the kind of love that is new every morning. . .

2 Samuel 20:14 KJV And he went . . . unto ABEL, and to BETHMAACHAH, and . . . (BERIM). . .

MESSAGE: This verse describes the spiritual geography of 2014. 2014 is the land of Abel (a grassy land) . . . the land of Bethmaachah (house of pressure) . . . and the land of Berim (wells).

What does that tell us? In the midst of the PRESSURE of the year, be reminded of the GRASSY LAND and WELLS OF COOL WATER that surrounds you! God, as your Chief Shepherd in this year, is set to “make you lie down in GREEN PASTURES; lead you beside WELLS OF WATER and RESTORE your soul!”

It’s a year of Sabath! A year of REST!

Of the ten declarations carved in the tablets, which one occupies the most space? Murder? Adultery? Stealing? You’d think so. Certainly each is worthy of ample coverage. But curiously, these commands are tributes to brevity. God needed only five English words to condemn adultery and four to denounce thievery and murder.
But when He came to the topic of rest, one sentence would not suffice. God needed four verses of ninety-six words in the New King James Version! (see Exodus 20 8-11).

In six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. His message is plain: “If creation didn’t crash when I rested, it won’t crash when you do.” Copy this as a reminder as you proceed in the year: “It is not my job to run the world”!

1 Kings 20:14 KJV “And Ahab said, By whom (shalt Thou deliver the great multitude into my hand)? And (the prohet) said, Thus saith the LORD, Even BY THE YOUNG MEN. . .”

MESSAGE: You think you are young? Then this is, verily, your year! This is a year when “young leaders” shall arise in various spheres of influence and take their nation to the next level by the power of divinity that is at work in them.

This is a year in which “young men shall see visions” and old men shall dream dreams. I was at a New Year service at my church headquarters on January 1 when God said that He will make YOUNG MEN the STAFF THAT OLDER MEN WILL LEAN UPON!

Not only will there be a WEALTH TRANSFER in the year, but there will be a transfer of LEADERSHIP UNCTION, LEADERSHIP POWER and LEADERSHIP AUTHORITY, too! Position yourself for it!

2 Kings 20:14 NCV “Then Isaiah the prophet went to King Hezekiah and asked him, “What did these men say? Where did they come from?””

MESSAGE: In 2014, BEYOND THE WORDS, GO FOR “PERSONALITY”. It’s not enough to judge that guy by “what” he says he is but by “who” you discover him to be.

How many people had suffered heavy heartbreaks in putting their trust in “what these men say” rather than finding out “who they really are—and where they come from”.

It’s not enough to follow a leader because of his words; follow a leader because of his/her CHARACTER.

2014 is a year of CHARACTER BUILDING!

Traps of Deception and Hypocrisy will abound in the year, but unto him/her that eyes an eye for personality beyond words of mouth, safety is assured!

. . .to be continued. . .
